INFORMATION, ADVICE & SUPPORT

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world but can also be one of the most challenging.  But there is lots of support and advice available to you.  Scroll down to see what's on offer to parents with children at WASP schools.

School information sessions  There is a variety of information and events for parents throughout the school year including curriculum evenings, parent/teacher meetings and transition sessions. You will receive information about these in your child’s book bag.

The Home School Liaison Worker Chris Piggott, works for all of the WASP schools. He offers support to parents and children during times of personal or family difficulty, or a period of unsettled behaviour at school. Parent Support Advisers can offer advice and support to parents of school aged children. They help families with concens about behaviour, school attendance, family worries and other issues. PSAs can be contacted via the school office or through the Ely Littleport and Witchford Locality Team (tel 01353 612830).

 

The School Nursing Service is for children aged ‘rising’ 5 to 16 (or 19 for children with special needs) registered with GPs across Cambridgeshire.  Parents can get help from the school nurse with bed-wetting, establishing sleep routines and behaviour boundaries, nutrition advice and child development advice. You can contact your school nurse through you school office or via your G.P.

Going Places Children’s Centre provides information and support to families with children under 5. Groups run from the Centre in Sutton, St Peter's Hall in Wilburton and the Parish Rooms in Stretham, with 1:1 support being offered to families if they need it. The Parent Partnerships Service provides information and support for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs.
