If you are finding things difficult or would like some support or advice the Ely, Littleport and Witchford Locality team and its partners run a number of parenting courses that may be of interest to you.

Parents of children aged 2-12 years. |
Effective strategy for positive discipline for children aged 2-12 years. In this programme you can learn a simple counting strategy that can be used to control obnoxious/difficult behaviour and approaches to encourage good behaviour and strengthen your relationship with your child. |

Raising Children |
2 hour sessions for 10 weeks |
Parents with children aged 1-12 years but useful for parents with children of all ages. |
To offer parents a supportive, informal environment in which to gain information, knowledge and skills around parenting issues. The course covers parenting styles, identifying children's needs, understanding challenging behaviour, listening skills, effective discipline, effects of positive and negative labelling, encouragement and self-esteem. The course will help you to build stronger relationships with your children and to understand yourself as a parent. |

Raising Teens |

This course is similar to the Raising Children course but looks especially at the issues of parenting teenage children….. |

Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities |
3 hour sessions for 13 weeks |
Excellent for parents to be, those who just want to improve their skills and those who need a bit more help and encouragement. |
To provide an opportunity to share ideas, strategies and tips, learn about your parenting style and why your child behaves the way he/she does. It will give you the tools and coping strategies to improve your parenting skills and help to improve your family relationships. |

Parents of children aged 11+. |
The teenage years can certainly bring many challenges for all concerned. This course is designed to support you in your parenting role, giving useful ideas, strategies and survival tips! |

Sibling Rivalry |
2 hour sessions for 2 weeks |
Parents experiencing difficulties with siblings in the family |
To explore the underlying reasons behind why siblings fight and to share some effective strategies for handling sibling rivalry. Some of the topics covered include: roots of sibling rivalry; fears about sibling rivalry; triggers to sibling rivalry; effective strategies for handling sibling rivalry. |
Who will deliver the courses?
All the courses are delivered by two course leaders and these are usually members of the Locality Team. Staff who might deliver courses include:
· Parent Support Advisers (PSAs) - who offer support to parents of school age children
· Children's Centre Staff e.g. Senior Family Involvement Workers - who offer support to families with children under 5
